This task requires some knowledge of the vehicle's motor and electrical system, as well as a few household tools. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Work gloves Wrench Phillips-head jeweler's screwdriver Wire cutters Electrician's tape Step by Step : 1 Set your car's parking brake. Pop the hood and prop it open. 2 Put on work gloves to protect your hands. Use a wrench to remove the negative battery cable from the battery. 3 Find the car starter located beneath the dashboard on the driver's side. Use wire cutters to snip the cable or plastic ties securing the car's starter. 4 Loosen the screws on the car starter's wire module with a Phillips-head jeweler's screwdriver. Lift the wires off the screws with your fingers. 5 Lift the remote module from the car starter. Follow the wires attached to the module up to the fuse box located underneath the dashboard. 6 Use wire cutters to snip the wires coming from the module at the point they meet the contacts to the fuse box. Wind pieces of electrician's tape around the cut ends of the wires to insulate them. 7 Using wire cutters, snip the tachometer wire attached to the car's starter module inside the hood. Wind a piece of electrician's tape around the end of the wire to insulate it. Use wire cutters to snip the plastic ties securing the module. 8 Reconnect the negative cable to the car's battery. Return the locking rod to its original position inside the hood and close the lid. Tips & Warnings Avoid removing wiring other than that used for the car starter or it could cause problems with the vehicle's electrical system.

Dispose of the module in the trash. 8 Reattach the cable to the battery. Return the locking rod back into the car and close the hood.
